Wedding Ceremony Recommendations

Ceremony Recommendations.

The wedding ceremony never fails to send a shiver down my spine when bridesmaids have travelled down the aisle to settle in position, groom and groomsmen are waiting patiently, all anticipating the same thing. Imagine, there’s a brief pause, then our strings come alive with those iconic notes from Pachelbel’s Canon in D.

This is the bride’s cue to begin her processional, all family & guests are standing with heads turned and all eyes on the door.  That moment… emotional, tender, nervous. But the bride is not alone, she has our music, her chosen piece to assist her up the aisle. It’s a beautiful moment and although we’ve played many weddings over the years, we never tire of this magical time. It’s very powerful!

There are typically 3 segments to a wedding ceremony where music should be considered, below are our recommendations with preferred ensemble in brackets;

Processional:
Pachelbel: Canon (Q,T,D,)
Wagner: Bridal Chorus (Here comes the bride) (Q,T,D)
Handel: Air from Water Music (Q,T,D)
Bach: Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring (Q,T,D)
Delibes: Flower Duet from Lakme (Q,T)
A Thousand Years (Christina Perri-Twilight) (Q,T,D)
Moon River (Breakfast at Tiffany’s) (Q,T,D)
I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You (Elvis) (Q,T,D)

Please consider one piece. If you have a large bridal party you may wish to choose a separate song for the arrival of the bride. Please note that there will be a short pause between the two songs.

Signing:
Bach: Air (Q,T,D,S)
Schubert: Ave Maria (Q,T,D,S)
Vivaldi: Largo from Winter (Four Seasons) (Q,T,D,)
Bach: Double Concerto in D minor second movement Largo. (Q,T)
Faure: Pavane (Q,T,D)
Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen) (Q,T,D,)
What a Wonderful World (Louis Armstrong) (Q,T,D)
Forrest Gump (Main Theme) (Q,T,D)

Please consider two pieces as the signing of the documents can take a while with photos being taken.

Recessional:
Handel: Arrival of the Queen of Sheba (Q,T)
Mendelsshon: Wedding March (Q,T,D)
Vivaldi: Spring from Four Seasons (Q,T,D)
Handel: Firework Suite La Rejouissance (Q,T,D)
Handel: Alla Hornpipe-Water Music Suite (Q,T,D)
Bitter Sweet Symphony (The Verve) (Q,T,D)
All you need is Love (Beatles) (Q,T,D)
Fly Me to the Moon (Frank Sinatra) (Q,T,D)

Please consider one piece.

It doesn’t matter if you’re having a church, garden, beach, backyard wedding, anywhere, the result will be the same…simply stunning, and I assure you that your guests will be in awe, it happens all the time! Over and over couples come back to me gushing with complements from their guests.

For those who would like some inspiration in choosing repertoire, we have provided a wide variety of videos on our YouTube channel. Here you can view us performing samples of many popular pieces most commonly chosen by couples.
